Acting Chairman of the Centre for Strategic Studies Ambassador Dr Hasan Ulusoy has been assigned to many diplomatic missions at different rankings during his diplomatic career of 32 years and has served as an ambassador in Niger, Bulgaria, and the Kingdom of Belgium, respectively, since 2012. He also worked at the headquarter on bilateral relations with European countries, NATO, and the Council of Europe/human rights.
During his post between 2015 and 2017 as the Director General for Multilateral Political Affairs, he also served as co-rapporteur of the UN Secretary-General on the reform of UNRWA and as coordinator of the UN World Humanitarian Summit.
Ambassador Dr Ulusoy earned his bachelor of arts degree at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Political Sciences, followed by a master of science degree in European studies from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a PhD in Turkish foreign policy identity analysis from the Middle East Technical University (METU). As part of his career, he also underwent training at the NATO Defence College.
Ambassador Dr Ulusoy has lectured at universities and is the author of numerous articles, book chapters, and a book, most notably on security and humanitarian issues. His areas of interest and competence include social constructivism, security, human rights, and humanitarian affairs.
Ambassador Dr Ulusoy is fluent in English and French. He also has intermediate knowledge of German and basic knowledge of Norwegian.
