Egemen Bağış graduated from the Baruch College of the City University of New York with a BBA in Human Resources Management and a Master’s in Public Administration.
In 2002, he was elected as an AK Party MP representing Istanbul. Bağış served as the Vice Chairman of the AK Party in charge of Foreign Relations and was a member of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), the highest executive authority of the AK Party. In January 2009, he was appointed Minister of State and Chief Negotiator to conduct negotiations for full membership with the EU.
Egemen Bağış was elected as the Chairman of the Türkiye-USA Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Caucus during the 22nd term of the National Assembly. Bağış was also the chair of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s (NATO PA) Subcommittee on Transatlantic Relations and the vice chair of the NATO-PA Turkish Group during the 22nd term.
Bağış has been the ambassador to the Czech Republic since September 20, 2019.
