Kevin Klyman is the lead technology researcher at Harvard’s Avoiding Great Power War Project. His research spans clean energy supply chains, algorithmic regulation, digital trade, Chinese tech policy, and export controls.
Kevin has written widely on emerging technology and China, with his work being featured in Foreign Policy, The Diplomat, The National Interest, South China Morning Post, TechCrunch and other outlets. He is the coauthor of “The Great Tech Rivalry: China vs. the U.S.” with Professor Graham Allison, which has been cited by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Economist.
As a Policy Fellow at the United Nations Foundation, Kevin built a database that is now used by the World Bank and the UN Development Programme to assess countries’ readiness for digital investment. As an AI and Digital Rights Fellow at the AI lab of the UN Secretary-General, he wrote a new, UN-wide privacy policy.
Kevin holds degrees in mathematics and international relations from UC Berkeley. He has given invited talks at Stanford, Harvard’s Kennedy School, and the UN’s Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
