Theme: The Role of Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Regional Security of Central Asia
Fırat Purtaş graduated from the Department of International Relations of Gazi University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1994. He started working as a research assistant in the same department in 1995. He completed his master’s degree at St. Petersburg State University’s Faculty of International Relations on a scholarship from the Ministry of National Education of the Russian Federation. In 2004, he earned his doctorate from the Institute of Social Sciences at Gazi University. In 2008, he was promoted to associate professor, and then in February 2014, he was promoted to professor. From 2009 until 2012, he served as Coordinator of the Gazi University International Relations Office. He served as the Deputy Secretary General of the International Organisation for Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) from 2008 to 2019. He is a member of the Expert Committee on Intercultural Rapprochement under Turkish National Commission for UNESCO. He is the editor of Journal of Social Sciences of the Turkic World, an SSCI-indexed academic journal published by Ahmet Yesevi University. He is the Dean of the Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty of Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University. He holds the “25th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” state medal. His academic studies focus on the political history and current problems of the Turkic world.
